Before and after the chimney has been swept. If left, deposits can build up and restrict the performance of the flue and become a fire risk
Fitting bird protection can prevent nesting in your chimney.
"We're gonna need a bigger brush"
Inglenook Fireplaces are usually found in older properties with considerably larger flues.
Leaving it too long in between chimney sweeps can lead to an excessive build up of soot in your chimney. This can cause restrictions in the flue and potentially become a fire hazard.
If we find nesting material coming down your chimney during your sweep, we will CCTV the entire length of the flue to ensure all nesting material has been removed. We would advise fitting a cowl (birdguard) to the top of your pot to prevent birds returning to attempt another nest.
This customer inherited a poorly maintained wood stove when they moved in. Excessive damp had caused heavy rust to the interior and 'overfiring' of the stove had warped and buckled the rear lining plate. The baffle had also slipped off its mountings and become jammed behind the rear plate. In this state, the stove was unusable.
